Nice Songs from the Eastern Tyrol

This CD, made in collaboration with the Institut für Tiroler Musikforschung and Tiroler Volksliedarchiv,   provides a  selection  of  the  prettiest Tyrolean  folk  songs  in  the eastern Tyrolean  mode  and in the original performance style.  Besides  a  series  of songs that extol the wonderful life  on  mountain  pastures, a collection of such lovable Tyrolean  songs  necessarily includes  others  about  the joys of Tyrolean rifl emen and the pleasures and sorrows of love, some of them moving in their candor. Some wit and irony are also components of the true Tyrolean folk song. These examples are all from the eastern Tyrolean collection of the folk song archive (Tiroler Volksliedarchiv) collected by Manfred Schneider between 1982  and  1984.  Most  are in  orally  transmitted  form, sometimes    taking    older recordings into account.
