Naughty Songs from the Eastern Tyrol
This CD contains only examples of authentic, traditional Tyrolean folk song and is a novelty in its aim and concept. The performers of this delightful collection are not the stars of the folklore scene but ordinary common people who imbued the thoroughly entertaining program with the inimitable quality of original tradition. These songs were collected between 1982 and 1984 by Manfred Schneider all over East Tyrol and documented on tape recordings. Together with older recordings, they provide a truly unique record of spontaneity, earthiness, and astringent charm of a sometimes rather coarse caliber, but also of lovable naiveté and fascinating originality.
