This CD contains chamber music from the music archive of Stams Monastery in an outstanding performance by the renowned Wiener Streichtrio. Presented for the fi rst time are a trio for strings by Johann Zach (1699-1773), duos for violin and violoncello by Johann Michael Malzat (1749-1787) and works by Stefan Paluselli OCist (1748-1805). Stefan Paluselli’s string trios, in particular, which are separate studies but joined together by us to form the present series, demonstrate an attractive originality and a wealth of creative invention. Because of their extraordinary high quality, these trios were recorded once more in the same year. This interpretation on original instruments is included on CD 2 (tracks 15-19).
